Welcome to the world, Charlotte Grace!

There is no way I could be more thrilled than to share this next bundle of cute.  You may remember the maternity pictures of my oldest friend from back in February. Well, the months sped by at lightning speed (for me, at least.. :) ), and Charlotte Grace arrived on May 18th, the newest member of a large family that was in love with her long before her red-carpet entrance. (Side note — there should totally be red carpets in the delivery room.) About a week after Charlotte was born, I was able to catch a flight back to good ol’ Jersey to add my name to the ever-expanding list of the Charlee-Obsessed. There was a lot of baby-bouncing and rocking, snuggling and smooching… oh, and I took a few pictures, too. :)

Honestly and truly, there aren’t enough words to describe how much I already love this little munchkin, or how happy I am for Megan and her husband Graham. So rather than continue the feeble attempt to find the right words, I’ll just leave you with the pictures!

Time Machines and Pregnant Best Friends

I told myself I would blog at least weekly, but I’ve been failing miserably at that goal. I have been spending my time making some serious progress on crochet projects (because I’m 90 at heart) and some other random odds-n-ends that needed to be addressed, which is good.

Rather than do the responsible, adult thing and promise to be a better blogger from here on out, I have chosen instead to do the ridiculous thing. I’m going to go ahead and pretend it’s February 20-something-th and I’ve just returned from a quick trip to NJ for a photo session. Why NJ, you ask? Well, join my in my time machine, if you will, and find out..!

Meet Megan:

blogtitle.jpg

Megan and I met our freshman year of high school in NJ and were fast friends. We have stayed extremely close through high school (during which time my emo/angsty phase would’ve been reason enough for anyone to toss me off a cliff), the college years (despite being at schools 2+ hours apart), and we’re still just as close today from opposite sides of the Mason-Dixon.

I give you this history not just because it is awesome and rare, but to show just how long I have known my Megan. No one will question my credentials as an expert witness when I tell you that Megan has wanted to be a mom FOREVER. Some girls toss around potential names for future children… Megan was devising plans to steal babies when no one was looking. So now I hope you have a sense for just how brain-exploding, heart-melting EXCITED I am for her and her wonderful husband as they get ready to welcome a baby girl into their home.

Like any good friendtogropher, I invited myself into their home to take some maternity pictures. I was envisioning many more park/outdoor images with a crisp late-winter chill in the air, but the weather didn’t have the same ideas. The temperature that Saturday morning was in the upper-40s, which is tolerable for us Yanks, but the WIND was probably the most blustery I’ve seen outside of a blizzard — sustained speeds in the 20mph range with gusts in the 30mph ballfield. I wasn’t exactly going to suggest we frolic through the meadow with my pregnant friend! We did brave the elements for one image we both really wanted, but we managed to set it up and snap it in probably under 2min, during which there was much hilarity. We spent the rest of the day lounging in their house and taking pictures here and there. The flow was totally unlike any other shoot, but it was so much fun.

I am so happy for Megan and Graham, and I can’t WAIT to meet little miss Charlotte. Don’t worry, I’ve invited myself over to take newborn pictures. ;)

Here are some more images from our day of fun:

Welcome, Gavin and Giana!

I was so excited when Michelle contacted me and asked if I would be interested in photographing her newborn TWINS, Gavin and Giana. Much like Penelope, these guys were anxious to be a real part of the holidays, not just passengers in momma’s belly. Both are doing well, and everyone was thrilled that they would both be home for Christmas. Mom Michelle and Dad John, along with siblings Alexis and Johnny (and four-legged boston terrier Beamer!) put up with me for a couple of hours on Sunday while I captured their newly-expanded family!

Four-legged sister Beamer has been used to being the “baby” for some time now, so she’s still adjusting to all of this infant business. That said, she’s clearly accepted the twins as part of her “pack,” and she stayed near the action, making sure I didn’t overstep my bounds. She’s so stinkin sweet that I contemplated smuggling her out the door and home with me!

Merry Christmas to this beautiful family, and Happy Holidays to all of you reading this!

Penelope has arrived!

Sweet little Penelope wasn’t expected until close to Christmas, but I guess all of the Thanksgiving excitement got to her, and she couldn’t wait any longer! She was an absolute joy to photograph, and the best sleeper I’ve had yet!

The next one features another hat hand-crafted by yours truly… but it’s kind of hard to even notice the hat with ALL THAT SWEETNESS!

The idea for the next one, to have her in a wok, was completely mom & dad’s. It just followed naturally that we’d have her on the stove — and the little wooden plaque sitting on top of the stove just completed the whole thing. Defnitely unconventional, but definitely fun!

Howard Family Photos

I recently had the joy of photographing the Howard family for their holiday cards, and Callista to mark her upcoming birthday. I stole a little time from their camping vacation and we snuck over to the beach for some fun sunset shots. The sun and clouds made everything this gorgeous golden color for some of these, and I just love it!

Michele & Hannah — Mother & Daughter portrait session

I met Michele (and her daughter Hannah, briefly) a while back when she threw a surprise birthday party for our mutual friend Nancy. She is such a warm and genuine person, and the bond she has with her daughter couldn’t be more obvious. I was honored to capture a piece of that bond recently as the three of us hung out at the beach. They were absolute naturals! Thank you for going along with my general silliness, ladies! It was such a joy to shoot you both!

A gorgeous little man!

This little guy’s parents are some of my favorite people, so when I found out they were having a little one, I was THRILLED for them. I took a short road trip down to Orlando to visit and take some pictures of His Highness. :) It took some patience, as the poor guy wasn’t feeling so great and really just wanted to be loved, but we were able to work with him and get some shots to show just how gorgeous he is!

I made the hat for this next one myself! my first attempt at anything quite like that, and I’m prety pleased with how it turned out!:

Say Hello to Baby Blake!

Added to all of the happiness and excitement of my holiday season was the news that my husband’s Best Man and his wife had their first baby! We are so happy for them and their newly-expanded family! It took a while to arrange a time for me to drop by and steal a few pictures of the sweet boy since I’ve been feeling less-than-stellar and certainly didn’t want to pass anything along to a newborn. But we finally made it work, and boy oh boy was he worth the wait! He is such an adorable, easy-going baby. And the faces he makes…!

Precious! Congrats, Josh and Lindsay!

Happy New Year!

I hope you all had a fabulous holiday season. And while I guess it’s back to business as usual, I’d still like to revel in the memories for a bit longer if that’s all right with you! My husband and I went “home” to NJ for Christmas this year. It’s always a real treat for me to be back up north for Christmas — partly because I get to see my wonderful, crazy family; and partly because it’s COLD! And I love the cold! It just doesn’t feel like Christmas when I’m wearing a t-shirt.

Here are just a couple of snapshots from my Christmas. My cousins both have made some ridiculously adorable kids, and seeing them on Christmas always makes things more exciting. More hugs, more sugar-high-induced stories, more innocent wonder.. the whole bit.

Here’s the whole crazy gang managing to sit still for juuuust about a millisecond before singing Happy Birthday to Jesus (complete with cake and candles):

IMG_1258.JPGAnd my cousin’s husband bought this incredible remote-controlled dinosaur toy (whether it was for the kids or himself, the jury is still out..). It walks, and moves its head, and bites, and breathes fire, and does laundry. Okay, maybe I made the last two up, but I think you get the idea — it’s AWESOME. The boys were waffling somewhere between pure love and sheer terror:

IMG_1271.JPGI hope your holiday season was filled with food, friends, and family! On to 2010!
